Dwelling Right
Like housing rights, but also correctly.
Housing policy is not a nebulous thing; in many cases structural inequity is visible. It’s also inextricably linked to America’s cost of living crisis, its financial systems, and the future of infrastructure.
Anna Klenkar is an independent real estate broker with her own company, Klenkar NYC, that does buyer representation, works with politicians on their housing plans, and was a necessary part of passing Intro 360, also known as the FARE Act, which eliminates forced broker fees in NYC.
Frustrated by her industry’s lack of foresight, transparency, and big picture thinking, she started Dwelling Right to deep dive into real estate policy and news, demystifying the opaque and providing information directly to consumers. Because she is independent and not a member of NAR nor REBNY, there is no brokerage or trade organization limiting her from being completely honest about real estate: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Outside of Substack, Anna’s “takes” have been featured in publications like Bloomberg, The Guardian, The City, and Crain’s New York, a podcast episode for Hell Gate (and one for Why Here), was featured on BBC Business Daily and quoted on NY1. And, of course, there’s TikTok.
